Description:

This 29-month project will strengthen the capacity of JusticeTrans to advance LGBTQ2 equality. This will be achieved by building managerial capacity by establishing governance, strategic planning and enhancing technical expertise, improving access to funding opportunities by developing knowledge and expertise in grant writing. The project will increase access to evidence, data, information and knowledge sources to assess community needs and strengthen collaboration among organizations by sharing resources.

At the end of the project, the organization will have increased knowledge and capacity to advance equality with respect to sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression.

The first supplement will be used for an audit of the organization for fiscal year 2022 and non-profit insurance for the organization. These administrative expenditures will help the organization grow its capacity for the next fiscal year.

The second supplement (for phase 2) will be used to build organizational capacity, undertake a community-based strategic planning process and to develop a national network of Two Spirit, trans, non-binary and gender nonconforming advocates, legal professionals, law students, and community-based organizations and allies.

Expected Results:

Partnerships and collaborations are established and/or strengthened to support the LGBTQ2 movement LGBTQ2 organizations have increased knowledge and capacity to advance equality with respect to sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression.

Agreement: Building Back Through Innovation & Increasing Diversity in Canada's Intellectual Property Sector (NA21391). Dec 17, 2021 - Mar 31, 2024
Description:

This 27-month project will support a feminist response and recovery from the current impacts of COVID-19, through removing barriers and addressing systemic issues adversely impacting Canadian women’s advancement as leaders and decision-makers in the intellectual property (IP) sector. The Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC) will achieve this by introducing equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) policy initiatives into IPIC’s leadership development activities; developing and delivering training and awareness-raising programming for the Canadian IP profession; and developing resources to support EDI best practices and promote diversity. A website and social media campaign will support access to resources and highlight best practices, policy initiatives as well as programming available.

At the end of the project, the organization will have contributed to addressing systemic barriers by advancing inclusive policies and practices, increasing networks and collaboration to accelerate systemic change, and supporting positive distribution of authority, voices, and decision-making power.

Expected Results:

Women and stakeholders have access to supports to address issues relating to equality between women and men.
