Description:
Through this 57-month project, Infinity Women Secretariat Inc. (IWS) will increase its capacity to prevent and address gender-based violence (GBV) against Indigenous women, girls, or 2SLGBTQIA+ people with a focus on Red River Métis community in Manitoba. This will be achieved by engaging with public policy experts to identify research gaps, conduct annual GBA+ socio-economic surveys, develop a Métis-specific GBA+ toolkit and GBA+ policies for the national Métis government, Affiliates and organizations, along with the development of the MMIWG2S+ Implementation Action Plan, while evaluating and improving IWS internal capacity.
This project will partner with the Manitoba Métis Federation, to support their GBA+ capacity of their policy, research, evaluation, and consultations.
By the end of this project, Infinity Women Secretariat Inc. will have strengthened its capacity to prevent and address GBV against Métis women, girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ individuals, with a focus on developing more inclusive policies and programs within the Red River Métis community.
With the Supplemental funds and extension provided in early 2026, Infinity Women Secretariat (IWS) will implement an integrated Governance and Organizational Capacity Modernization Framework, develop a strategic plan aligned with evolving GBV priorities and measurable performance indicators, strengthen governance through an inclusive GBA+ lens to ensure inclusivity and transparency, develop a Digital Organizational Capacity and Knowledge Infrastructure Platform, and establish a formal Organizational Evaluation, Reporting, and Risk Management Framework to strengthen institutional performance measurement and sustainability.
Through these activities, IWS will significantly strengthen governance systems, organizational infrastructure, evaluation capacity, and further advance Gender Equality.
Program Purpose:
The purpose of ESSOGIE program is to advance social, political and economic equality with respect to sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression.
Advancement towards a greater understanding of the intersection of sex and gender with other identity factors that include race, national and ethnic origin, Indigenous origin or identity, age, sexual orientation, socio-economic condition, place of residence and disability are encouraged under the Program.
