This will be achieved by using a GBA Plus lens to review the organization’s current policies and to develop and implement an anti-violence procedures manual. This project will engage Métis women, 2SLGBTQQIA+ people, Elders, and community members to inform the process by including their recommendations and ongoing feedback. By the end of the project, NIMA will have strengthened their capacity to prevent and address GBV against Indigenous women, girls and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people, with a focus on Métis women and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people in Northern Vancouver Island. With the supplemental funds and extension provided in early 2026, North Island Métis will complete a Board-led bylaw renewal grounded in the Values Nourish Us Framework and GBA+ principles and develop governance training materials and tools to support inclusive leadership.
