Description:

In this 14-month project, the Government of Yukon will work on the expansion of Sexualized Assault Response Team (SART) services outside Whitehorse to rural and remote communities in the Yukon. The project will first include engagement with First Nations, community service providers and victims of sexualized violence and conducting a service inventory, leading to a proposed implementation and service model for each community. Finally, the project will seek to inform new and enhanced existing services to victims of sexualized assault across the territory that are more victim-centered, trauma-informed, culturally safe, and coordinated.

Program Purpose:

The purpose of the GBV Program is to strengthen the GBV sector to address gaps in supports for two groups of survivors: 1) Indigenous women and their communities, and 2) underserved populations (including women living with a disability, non-status/refugee /immigrant women, LGBTQ2S, gender non-conforming people and ethno-cultural women) in Canada. The Program provides grant and contribution funding to Canadian organizations to improve supports to help create long-term, comprehensive solutions at the national, regional, and local levels.
