Description:
Through this 41-month project, the Archives lesbiennes du Québec will help strengthen the capacity and networks of 2SLGBTQI+ community organizations to promote equality for 2SLGBTQI+ people. The project will address the importance to 2SLGBTQI+ communities of exploring their history and culture to better understand the challenges and issues they have faced over the years, as well as the innovative solutions and successes that have bolstered these communities' resilience. It will also improve access to the memories of groups and individuals who helped build 2SLGBTQI+ communities.
The project will consist of establishing a strong IT infrastructure, developing indexing and classification tools, strengthening the capacity to disseminate funds and collections, and improving internal management processes and consultation mechanisms.
With the supplemental funds and 12-month extension provided in early 2026, Les Archives lesbiennes du Québec will continue their regional tour, facilitate access to 2SLGBTQI+ history and culture by digitizing Canadian lesbian books and journals and, lastly, develop and implement a philanthropic development action plan.
