Description:
Through this 27-month project, the Rainbow Coalition for Refuge and its Coalition Secretariat will strengthen and build the capacity of 2SLGBTQI+community organizations and networks to advance 2SLGBTQI+ rights. More precisely, they will address the specific and unique needs and intersections of 2SLGBTQI+ newcomers and those with lived experience in Canada. The project will include activities to build equity and anti-racism competencies of 2SLGBTQI+ refugee-serving organizations across Canada and strengthen the internal structures of the Coalition and its secretariat. Activities will be conducted through an equity lens, focusing on building the leadership of those with direct lived experience of migration or forced migration in the Coalition and its member organizations

The purpose of ESSOGIE program is to advance social, political and economic equality with respect to sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression.

Advancement towards a greater understanding of the intersection of sex and gender with other identity factors that include race, national and ethnic origin, Indigenous origin or identity, age, sexual orientation, socio-economic condition, place of residence and disability are encouraged under the Program.
