Description:

Through this 27-month project, JusticeTrans will strengthen its organizational capacity and relationships with 2SLGBTQI+ and Two-Spirit, trans, non-binary and gender diverse communities. To achieve this, the organization will consult Indigenous elders to review and update its policies, using decolonial, 2SLGBTQI+, risk reduction, trauma-informed, disability justice and GBA+ frameworks. This will enable the creation of more inclusive practices and procedures, aligned with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action. As part of the project, JusticeTrans will use a skills matrix to measure the effectiveness of its board of directors in order to put in place a standardized on-boarding process, an accountability framework, a policy manual, and a recruitment and retention manual. Building on its current strategic plan, JusticeTrans will develop a financial health plan to ensure the organization's sustainability. Communication tools, an education and awareness plan, and new information security practices will also be implemented to protect the organization and its members from the rise of hate movements and anti-trans and anti-2SLGBTQI+ legislation. Legal training and workshops will be provided to staff members to improve their understanding of general laws and regulations.

The purpose of ESSOGIE program is to advance social, political and economic equality with respect to sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression.

Advancement towards a greater understanding of the intersection of sex and gender with other identity factors that include race, national and ethnic origin, Indigenous origin or identity, age, sexual orientation, socio-economic condition, place of residence and disability are encouraged under the Program.
