Description:
This 22-month project will address the rise of hate towards the 2SLGBTQIA+ community by supporting Pride event teams and organizers across the country to ensure their security needs are met. This will be achieved through the further distribution of funds to Pride events to increase their safety and security, and the creation and implementation of training and resources on events safety to be made available to Fierté Canada Pride’s (FCP) network and beyond. The second installment will allow Fierté Canada Pride to continue the Community Safety Fund for the Pride Season 2025-2026. Four bilingual online learning modules will be developed, grounded in the lessons learned and knowledge gathered through the first phase of the Community Safety Fund. These modules will focus on community safety planning, addressing rising hate, and creating inclusive and secure environments. The second installment will also support a national Community Safety Symposium, which will bring together grassroots organizations to share what’s working in their communities and further inform the development of tools and strategies to combat rising hate across the country.
