Through this 32-month project, Safe Transitions will build its capacity to advance gender equality. It will address the organizational need to improve planning and fundraising capacity and expanding its network of partners to respond to the increased demand for its services in Toronto and the GTA area. The project will include developing a board-approved multi-year strategic plan, applying for and receiving charitable status, developing a grant funding plan, and expanding its network of organizational partners. With the supplemental funds and extension provided in early 2026, Safe Transitions will develop a formal Theory of Change and operational workflow framework; implement an integrated case management platform; and create a comprehensive financial sustainability and scaling model, including cost-per-client analysis and a multi-year financial forecast. This will further advance Gender Equality.

The purpose of the Women’s Program is to advance equality for women in Canada by working to address or remove systemic barriers impeding women’s progress and advancement. The WP supports the Government of Canada’s goal of advancing gender equality in Canada. It is consistent with Government of Canada priorities related to economic prosperity, and supports Canada’s international commitments related to gender equality.
