Description:
Through this 26-month project, VIDEA will build its capacity to advance gender equality. It will address systemic exclusion of Indigenous women and gender-diverse people, those with disabilities and 2SLGBTQ+ folks, including from Canada’s North, from full participation in Canada’s women’s movement. The project will include: building knowledge, capacity and connections between partners and communities; engage VIDEA’s diverse staff team and wider community of emerging leaders, non-traditional partner organizations, and overseas partners who are leaders in African women’s movements; develop and widely disseminate decolonized, intersectional policies, tools and resources that guide organizations working in Canada’s women’s movement to better support diverse staff, engage diverse communities; and support a more inclusive, representative, diverse and viable women’s movement.
With the Supplemental funds and 6‑month extension provided in early 2026, VIDEA will continue strengthening feminist leadership and organizational capacity, sustain and deepen cross‑sector partnerships, and strengthen the leadership capacity of majority Indigenous youth as movement leaders and builders. Through this, VIDEA will further advance Gender Equality.
