Description:
Through this 21-month project, Women’s Hostels Inc will help advance women’s economic security and prosperity through systemic change. Specifically, the project will address systemic barriers to affordable housing for women and gender diverse people within the GTA. The project will 1) undertake research on barriers to housing for women and gender-diverse people in the GTA, 2) create a network of experts to guide the Social Justice Advisory Committee and Toronto Women in Action participants in the development of an action plan; 2) advocate at systems planning tables at the municipal, provincial and federal level to address barriers to housing for women and gender-diverse people in the GTA.; 3) work with the construction industry and builders to advocate for construction projects aimed at affordable rental units for women and gender-diverse people in the GTA. An external evaluator will measure and assess the impact of the systemic change project.
