Description:
Through this 12-month project, Public Legal Information Association will scale the promising practice of delivering legal information, education, and navigation services in Labrador to address gaps in supports for underserved survivors of gender-based violence. This will be achieved by outreach and engagement, by collaborating with key partners and stakeholders and by providing legal information, supports and navigation to women Labradorians in remote coastal regions. This will enhance knowledge and collaboration among the community and stakeholders about legal options and processes and increase the ability for survivors of gender-based violence to access justice.

Program Purpose:

The purpose of the GBV Program is to strengthen the GBV sector to address gaps in supports for two groups of survivors: 1) Indigenous women and their communities, and 2) underserved populations (including women living with a disability, non-status/refugee /immigrant women, LGBTQ2S, gender non-conforming people and ethno-cultural women) in Canada. The Program provides grant and contribution funding to Canadian organizations to improve supports to help create long-term, comprehensive solutions at the national, regional, and local levels.
