Evidence of progress:

• Canada and the Netherlands co-hosted a UN General Assembly High-Level week side event on disinformation, bringing together Canada’s two Chairships of the Freedom Online Coalition and International IDEA, as well as its co-chairship of the Media Freedom Coalition.
• Canada as FOC Chair co-hosted its first public Expo in Rome, bringing together experts from civil society, industry, and academia to discuss Internet freedom.
• The FOC launched its first country-specific statement in its 11-year history to address Internet shutdowns in Iran.
• Canada assumed the presidency of the Community of Democracies in September. As part of our thematic focus, the growing challenge of disinformation will be addressed.

• Six Canadian missions hosted multi-stakeholder regional consultations (Asia-Pacific, Europe, Latin America, Middle East and North Africa, North America, and Sub Saharan Africa) to engage directly with stakeholders and gather knowledge about Internet freedom challenges at the regional and sub-regional level.
• At RightsCon, the world's leading summit on human rights in the digital age, Minister Melanie Joly launched the #MyDigitalInclusion social media campaign, raising awareness about digital inclusion.
• In line with Canada’s commitment to call attention to egregious situations worldwide that undermine human rights online, Canada issued an Chair statement on Russian state-sponsored disinformation in Ukraine.

• In line with Canada’s commitment to call attention to egregious situations worldwide that undermine human rights online, Canada issued a Chair statement on Russian state-sponsored disinformation in Ukraine.
• Canada chaired the FOC’s diplomatic networks and working groups, which play a critical role in raising awareness of the Coalition’s collective positions and capacity building across stakeholder groups.
• Canada partnered with l’Université du Québec à Montréal (UQÀM), l’Observatoire des réseaux et interconnexion de la société (ORISON) et l’Internet Society (ISOC) on the event « Symposium francophone sur l'inclusion numérique, la diversité des contenus en ligne et la gouvernance d'Internet et des plateformes».
