Updates

2024-03
Status:
Complete
Evidence:

This indicator is achieved. Another State of Open Data Roundtable series (4) was held in 21-24 Nov 2023 (https://www.d4d.net/events/the-state-of-open-data-roundtables-series-4/) The final report of the Open Data for Development initiative was also completed in late 2023 and is available here: https://cms.d4d.net/assets/f7d8def6-b4e4-4544-b47b-afca166ad2e1. Many activities in the data for development space are still ongoing and supported by IDRC, largely as part of the newer initiative of the Data 4 Development Initiative (D4D.net). The second edition of the State of Open Data is finalized and will be released in Q1 2024.

2023-06
Status:
Substantial progress
Evidence:

Although the conference that was planned for November 2020 did not take place because of COVID restrictions, this commitment has shown substantial progress through a series of reports, blogs and webinars on the state of open data. These events or publications focused on key issues such as climate action and the state of open data, or health and the state of open data. The second edition of the book on the State of Open Data should be coming out soon. The papers and recordings of the webinars are available here: https://www.d4d.net/activities/state-of-open-data/

2022-09
Status:
Limited progress
Evidence:

A series of roundtables took place between June 22-24 2022 to gather perspectives regarding the use and impact of open data. It is part of a process to update the State of Open Data Publication to reflect how the open data agenda has shifted to reflect the pandemic and global developments since the first edition. - https://www.d4d.net/events/the-state-of-open-data-roundtables-22/

Challenges:

IODC Kenya has been postponed because of travel restrictions related to the COVID 19 pandemic, and negotiations with a new host are under way
