One Connection Grant application was received by the Joint Initiative with SSHRC during their May intake and it received funding. Two Connection Grant applications were received by the Joint Initiative with SSHRC during their June intake and an analysis on their relevancy has been completed. These recommendations will be reviewed by SSHRC's governance committee in the fall.

Challenges:

There is a low number of applications. The DCCP team has proposed SSHRC and our communications teams work together to create more outreach and amplify knowledge of the Joint Initiative grants.

The Joint Initiative was able to offer 5 additional supplements ($50,000) to doctoral students prior to the end of the fiscal year (in February and March). The total spending for talent grants for fiscal year 2023-2024 was $150,000 and 15 supplements were awarded. No applications were submited for the February Connection Grants competition.

The DCI and SSHRC completed their relevancy reviews and evaluations on applications for the JIDCR's Connection Grants and Postdoctoral and Doctoral Fellowship supplements.

Evidence:

Two recipients were awarded a total of $43,033‬ in Connection Grants. Fifteen recipients were awarded $10,000 each in Postdoctoral and Doctoral Fellowship supplements.

The Joint Initiative for Digital Citizen Research (JIDCR) completed its third fiscal year in 2021-22. There was a mix of continued funding to long term Insight Grant recipients, and new projects supported through Connection Grants and Postdoctoral and Doctoral Fellowship supplements.

Evidence:

Four recipients received a total of $362,000 through their multiyear Insight Grants. Five recipients received $10,000 each in Talent Grant Supplements. Six recipients received Connection Grants at variable amounts totaling $136,912 in 2021-2022.
