National Action Plan on Open Government Commitment

The Open Data Advisory Group has been successfully established and has been meeting monthly since October 2024. The group comprises government officials, representatives from civil society organizations, academics, and open data experts who collaboratively contribute to advancing open government and open data initiatives.
The finalized Terms of Reference document, completed in November 2024, clearly outlines the group's mandate, objectives, and operating procedures. The group’s ongoing work has been instrumental in identifying new open data users and experts, fostering partnerships, and driving forward Canada’s open data agenda.

The Open Data Advisory Group has been established and has met four times since October 2024. The group’s deliberations have commenced and key documents, such as the finalized Terms of Reference for the group, have been completed.

Discussions have taken place with key individuals from the open data stakeholder community to establish the Open Data Advisory Group. Invitations have been sent out to the group’s perspective members. This group will comprise government officials, representatives from civil society organizations, and industry leaders who will collaborate to advance open government and open data initiatives.
The primary focus of the group will be to contribute to the development and refinement of an open data maturity model, open data priorities, and reporting on the impact of open data.
A meeting is scheduled to take place in October 2024, during which the secretariat will finalize the group's objectives and structure. Additionally, a Terms of Reference document is in development to outline the group’s mandate and operating procedures.

The establishment of an open data advisory working group is on track for completion by 2025. Work is not yet publicly available.
