Updates
2026-06
As part of the ongoing work of the Open Government Working Group at VAC, members will be asked to canvass their teams to determine if there are opportunities to identify and participate in Open Government activities. Work will begin as teams identify materials that were posted in the past to determine if it would still be appropriate to share the information. As an early activity, members were invited to provide input into how the 2026 Open Government Week could be recognized. Education about Open Government and the goals of the Working Group was identified as a priority, resulting in the publication of a Carillon article within VAC for Open Government Week.
As a result of the Open Government Working Group's input, an internal Carillon article about Open Government was posted on the intranet for all VAC employees, and a link to the article was circulated via an internal VAC newsletter.
The nature of VAC's business is one that includes the management of personal information that requires protection. Considerable work must be done up-front, before any information can be published, to ensure that the appropriate checks and balances are in place to ensure the safey and security of any data released.
