Updates

2026-06
Status:
Substantial progress
Evidence of progress:

NIL

Challenges:

No new feedback was received during this reporting period. Feedback is gathered informally via email/Team message and during in-person discussions. Five years ago, a contractor was hired to gather feedback by external stakeholders (primarily not-for-profit and advocacy organizations, as well as a couple academics, working in the criminal justice system) and qualitative interviews were conducted. At that time, three quarters of the small sample (n=12) knew about the State of the Criminal Justice System (SOCJS) but only a couple were using it regularly for their work.

There is limited capacity to proactively seek out feedback.

2025-12
Status:
Substantial progress
Evidence of progress:

General feedback from key stakeholders is that the SOCJS (the Dashboard and related products) is regularly used to inform day-to-day work and is a helpful tool to quickly provide calculated data generated to respond to public policy related questions and discussions on the criminal justice system. The Youth Criminal Justice Division is a policy group that has expressed this feedback numerous times, noting that they use the SOCJS Dashboard almost on a daily basis, and were pleased with the automated indicators to resolve the lag in reporting issues.
