This web mapping application gives estimates of the electricity that can be generated by grid-connected photovoltaic systems without batteries (in kWh/kWp) and of the mean daily global insolation (in MJ/m2 and in kWh/m2) for any location in Canada on a 60 arc seconds ~2 km grid. They are presented for each month and for the entire year, for six different PV array orientations: a sun-tracking orientation and five fixed South-facing orientations with latitude, vertical (90°), horizontal (0°) and latitude ± 15° tilts. Data can also be obtained directly for individual municipalities from a list of over 3500 municipalities or downloaded …

A Conservation Unit (CU) is a group of wild Pacific salmon sufficiently isolated from other groups that, if extirpated, is very unlikely to recolonize naturally within an acceptable timeframe, such as a human lifetime or a specified number of salmon generations.

Holtby and Ciruna (2007) provided a framework for aggregating the five species of salmon (genus Oncorhynchus) found on Canada’s Pacific coast into species-specific CUs based on three primary characteristics: ecotypology, life history and genetics. The first stage in the description of the Conservation Units is based solely on ecology. The ecotypologies used in this framework include a combined characterization …

Extreme water level along the marine coastline is a result of a combination of storm surge, tides, and ocean waves. Future projections of climate change in the marine environment indicate that rising sea level and declining sea ice will cause changes in extreme water levels, which will impact Canada's coastlines and the infrastructure in these areas. Understanding these changes is essential for developing adaptation strategies that can minimize the harmful effects that may result.

CAN-EWLAT is a science-based planning tool for climate change adaptation of coastal infrastructure related to future water-level extremes and changes in wave climate. The tool includes …

This set of one-off data shows fire hydrants on the island of Montreal. These terminals are elevated devices located along streets, equipped with a water intake supplied from the aqueduct pipes, to which fire-fighting hoses are connected in order to ensure fire protection. The information associated with the geographic data corresponds to the date of installation, status, owner and jurisdiction. WARNING: This data is published annually, so it does not include updates made during the year. This list contains water meters operated by the City of Montreal Water Department. The fleet of meters is used to carry out water balances and makes it possible to measure the water distributed to the other municipalities forming the Montreal agglomeration. This list is a view of the situation at the time the file was generated. NOTE: The data in this set is intended to have a better understanding of the number of industrial, commercial and institutional water meters installed as part of the City of Montreal's water consumption measurement strategy. The permanent sample plot is a circular sample unit that covers an area of 400 m2. For each tree, the species, the diameter, the defoliation of the softwoods and the quality of the deciduous trees are observed and measured. Some of these stems are the subject of further studies in order to know their height and age. Finally, other surveys make it possible to identify the ecological characteristics of the station where the plot is located, whether at ground level or undergrowth plants. Since 1970, more than 12,000 permanent sample plots have been established and monitored every decade. This data …<span class="fa fa-language text-muted mrgn-lft-sm" title="This third party metadata element has been translated using an automated translation tool.
