The Geological Atlas of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin was designed primarily as a reference volume documenting the subsurface geology of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin. This GIS dataset is one of a collection of shapefiles representing part of Chapter 8 of the Atlas, Middle Cambrian to Lower Ordovician Strata of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin, Figure 20d, Middle Cambrian Lithology Carbonates. Shapefiles were produced from archived digital files created by the Alberta Geological Survey in the mid-1990s, and edited in 2005-06 to correct, attribute and consolidate the data into single files by feature type and by figure.

This GIS dataset is part of a digital compilation of the Precambrian geology of the Alberta portion of the Canadian Shield and Athabasca Basin. It is one of the datasets used to produce Alberta Geological Survey Map 537. The dataset displays locations on the Alberta shield where we took rock samples for 40 argon/39 argon dating. Attributes include crystallization and/or cooling age, mineral analyzed, sample identifier and rock type, literature reference, and analytical method. This is a digital version of Table 2 in Map 537.

This dataset shows length weighted connectivity values summarized by hydrologic unit code (HUC) for a provincial stream connectivity indicator that assesses connectivity for aquatic organisms in stream networks. The stream connectivity indicator supports evaluation and reporting on indicator condition over time and provides information to support management of watercourse crossings. The stream connectivity indicator produces an estimate of the average connectivity in a stream network, considering the movement requirements of local species and the locations of watercourse crossings. The indicator is calculated and summarized using hydrologic unit codes (HUCs). Indicator values are calculated at a HUC 6 scale, and summarized …

The Geological Atlas of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin was designed primarily as a reference volume documenting the subsurface geology of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin. This GIS dataset is one of a collection of shapefiles representing part of Chapter 11 of the Atlas, Devonian Beaverhill Lake Group of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin, Figure 4, Transgressive Sequence Isopach. Shapefiles were produced from archived digital files created by the Alberta Geological Survey in the mid-1990s, and edited in 2005-06 to correct, attribute and consolidate the data into single files by feature type and by figure.

All available bathymetry and related information for Reita Lake were collected and hard copy maps digitized where necessary. The data were validated against more recent data (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission 'SRTM' imagery and Indian Remote Sensing 'IRS' imagery) and corrected where necessary. The published data set contains the lake bathymetry formatted as an Arc ascii grid. Bathymetric contours and the boundary polygon are available as shapefiles.

The objective of this project was to map and characterize abandoned padded wellsites (i.e., constructed with imported mineral soil materials between 1940 and 2020) in peatlands within the Boreal and Foothills Regions of the Green area in Alberta. This Project used high-resolution LiDAR data combined with open-access optical data from Sentinel-2 to build a supervised machine learning model that detected padded sites. The classification procedure achieved 81.2% accuracy when predicting no pad and 73.9% accuracy when predicting a pad, for an overall classification accuracy of 78%. As a result, a total of 7,077 padded sites and 8,006 unpadded sites in …

The Grizzly Bear Recovery Zone is the geographic extent of Alberta which indicates the intention of the Government of Alberta to recover grizzly bears. The Recovery Zone is also be a priority for attractant management, management of other sources of human-bear conflict, and building public education, awareness, and understanding of grizzly bears and their recovery. The Grizzly Bear Recovery Plan Management Zones dataset contains four layers: Grizzly Bear Core Access Management Area, Grizzly Bear Secondary Access Management Area, Grizzly Bear Habitat Linkage, and Grizzly Bear Support Zone. Please see the individual metadata records for additional details on each layer.
