This 'Current' spatial data layer is publicly viewable and downloadable, contains the most current Legal Old Growth Management Area (OGMA) polygons and excludes any sensitive information. This data represents legally established and spatially defined areas of old growth forest that are identified during landscape unit planning or an operational planning process. Forest licensees are required to maintain legally established OGMAs when preparing FSPs. OGMAs, in combination with other areas where forestry development is prevented or constrained, are used to achieve biodiversity targets. This spatial view will show the most current polygons and excludes sensitive information. This data is viewable in …

This file contains a representation of 3rd order watersheds developed for the 1:50,000 BC Watershed Atlas with each watershed polygon coded for occurrence of freshwater fish species (including anadromous salmon in their freshwater stages). The initial fish species codes for presence/absence in each watershed were derived from an GIS overlay of fish species occurrences within broadly defined fish regions for BC. This overlay of fish ranges describes the occurrences of fish species in 30 regions throughout the province. These broad species ranges were derived from McPhail and Carveth's 'Key to Freshwater Fish of BC' and refined further based on the …

The B.C. Conservation Data Centre’s spatial view of publicly available, known locations of species and ecological communities at risk. This spatial view is split into the "Publicly Available Occurrences" layer and "(Extirpated and Historical) Publicly Available Occurrences" layer. The Extirpated and Historical layer includes element occurrences that have a last observation date greater than 40 years ago and element occurrences that are extirpated due to general habitat loss or degradation of the environment in the area. Use the field ‘Rank Description’ to differentiate between Historical and Extirpated element occurrences in this layer. All element occurrences are polygons: the size of …

The Observed Habitat Polygons show the various types of particular habitat that have been observed or calculated by biologists as well as an expectation of different species found in the habitats. Each bioarea has several observed habitats, and it is the combination of the bioarea and habitat observed number that identifies each unique observed habitat.
