The Geological Atlas of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin was designed primarily as a reference volume documenting the subsurface geology of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin. This GIS dataset is one of a collection of shapefiles representing part of Chapter 14 of the Atlas, Carboniferous Strata of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin, Figure 35, Stoddart/Mattson/Kibbey Isopach and Lithofacies. Shapefiles were produced from archived digital files created by the Alberta Geological Survey in the mid-1990s, and edited in 2005-06 to correct, attribute and consolidate the data into single files by feature type and by figure.

This GIS dataset depicts the surficial geology of the NTS map area 84B Southeast (line features). The data are created in ArcInfo format and output for public distribution in Arc export (E00) and shapefile formats.

A digital elevation model derived from the Federal DEM (76m resolution) and resampled to a 250 m cell-size resolution.

All available bathymetry and related information for Sylvan Lake were collected and hard copy maps digitized where necessary. The data were validated against more recent data (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission 'SRTM' imagery and Indian Remote Sensing 'IRS' imagery) and corrected where necessary. The published data set contains the lake bathymetry formatted as an Arc ascii grid. Bathymetric contours and the boundary polygon are available as shapefiles.

This GIS dataset depicts the surficial geology of the Yates River Area (NTS 84N/NE) (point features). The data were created in geodatabase format and output for public distribution in shapefile format. These data comprise the point features of Alberta Geological Survey Map 552, Surficial Geology of the Yates River Area (NTS 84N/NE).

A digital grid of the top of the Second White Specks Formation, originally modeled from borehole data and adjusted to present-day and paleo river erosion. The grid is generated at a 250 m cell-size resolution, based on information as recent as 2003.

Alberta Geological Survey created a coal and coalbed methane (CBM) database to capture and manage CBM data. The database compiles different sources and contains information on 7923 wells (15,200 formation picks, 37,357 coal picks, 495 coal analyses and 363 vitrinite reflectance measurements). From this parent dataset, individual coal zones were evaluated. This record describes the Taber Coal Zone's thickness isopach.

The Wildlife Management Unit (WMU) dataset is comprised of all the polygons that represent the Wildlife Management Units in Alberta. WMU is an area of wildlife managed under Wildlife Act, Alberta Regulation 143/79.
