It includes creative work undertaken on a systematic basis in order to increase the stock of knowledge, and the use of this knowledge to devise new applications. R&D covers three activities: basic research, applied research, and experimental development.
This GIS dataset is part of a digital compilation of the Precambrian geology of the Alberta portion of the Canadian Shield and Athabasca Basin. It is one of the datasets used to produce Alberta Geological Survey Map 537. The dataset displays Alberta shield locations where we took rock samples for uranium-lead dating. Alberta Geological Survey compiled the data from published literature. Attributes include crystallization and/or cooling age, mineral analyzed, sample identifier and rock type, literature reference, and analytical method. This is a digital version of the data given in Table 1 of Map 537.
Funds leveraged means that communities have partnered with various sources of funds to realize their projects and therefore are addressing their communities’ needs through these investment opportunities. The leverage ratio represents total financial contributions by WD’s partners in relation to WD’s contribution. For example, a leverage ratio of 2 means that for every $1 contributed by WD, partner organizations are contributing a combined amount of $2 to the program.
The total dollar value increase in sales of firms supported by WD.
All available bathymetry and related information for Minnie Lake were collected and hard copy maps digitized where necessary. The data were validated against more recent data (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission 'SRTM' imagery and Indian Remote Sensing 'IRS' imagery) and corrected where necessary. The published data set contains the lake bathymetry formatted as an Arc ascii grid. Bathymetric contours and the boundary polygon are available as shapefiles.
High-Growth Firm – Based on list of all businesses in Canada included in Statistics Canada’s Business Register, a “high-growth firm” is an enterprise with average annualized growth greater than 20% per annum over a three-year period. That is, the total growth over a three-year period must be greater than 72.8%. For this indicator, growth has been measured by revenue (though it can also be measured by growth in employment). High-growth enterprises are required to have at least 10 employees at the start of the three-year period, and are also required to be at least four years old.
This GIS dataset depicts the surficial geology of the NTS map area 84B Southeast (polygon features). The data are created in ArcInfo format and output for public distribution in Arc export (E00) and shapefile formats.
Value in dollars of total exports (all products) originating from western Canada.
This dataset is a shapefile depicting the suitability of geological setting in Alberta for waste management siting. It is derived from spatial analysis of other geological input, including: bedrock topography and morphology. occurrence of major buried drift aquifers, assumed on the basis of buried channel talwegs locations. surficial geology. bedrock geology. and, drift thickness. Areas of the province are ranked Suitable, Unsuitable or Uncertain where possible. other areas are masked by lakes or have insufficient data to rank them.
Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises – Small enterprises are defined as having 1-99 employees. Medium sized enterprises have 100-499 employees. So small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are all firms with less than 500 employees.
Majority-owned / Majority ownership – Majority ownership for each of the designated groups is based on the following parameters: between 51 and 100 percent owned by one or more females; Indigenous persons; youth; visible minorities; people with disabilities. 50:50 ownership, which in the instance of male and female, may include married couples, would not be included in these totals.
