In 2014, the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) initiated a Play-Based Regulation (PBR) pilot project as a step towards implementation of the Unconventional Regulatory Framework. One of the goals of the PBR pilot is to encourage companies in the unconventional play area to work together on plans for surface development to minimize the numbers of facilities and surface impacts. This dataset is one of a series created using earth observation imagery to assess surface change caused by energy exploration. The PBR area extends from Twp. 52, Rge. 7, W 5th Mer. to Twp. 70, Rge. 5, W 6th Mer., covering the …
Fisheries and Oceans Canada’s (DFO’s) Pacific Aquaculture Regulations and Conditions of Licence for aquaculture in B.C. require licence holders to take various fish escape prevention measures, including maintaining infrastructure in a manner to prevent the escape of farmed fish into the environment as well as responding to remedy the cause of the escape as soon as possible.
When there is evidence that an escape event has occurred, licence holders must report the incident to the department within 24 hours either through the Observe Record and Report Line (ORR 1-800-465-4336), or to a dedicated email mailbox, detailing the cause, time and …

As part of a study to characterize the habitat of Canada’s only known population of Hine’s emerald dragonfly (HED), a species listed as endangered since 2011, groundwater was collected and analyzed from the eastern Minesing Wetlands near Barrie, Ontario. The water quality analyses included general chemistry parameters (major anions and cations, nutrients) as well as water and nitrate isotope ratios. Groundwater samples were collected in the fall of 2010, 2013, 2014 and in the spring and fall of 2015 to 2017 from a network of groundwater wells and piezometers in the wetland and adjacent uplands. Samples from groundwater seeps discharging …
The daily water temperature (°C) dataset is reconstructed using the air2stream model (Toffolon and Piccolroaz 2015) with i) air temperature from ~10 km resolution 1980-2018 Regional Deterministic Reforecast System, version 2.1 (Gasset et al. 2021) and ii) streamflow data from the Water Survey of Canada (WSC) hydrometric stations used as the primary inputs. The reconstructed dataset was calibrated/validated with observed water temperature records from various sources. A detailed description of the methodology, sources of observed water temperature, air temperature, and streamflow datasets used in the model setup are available in Shrestha and Pesklevits (2023a and 2023b).

The Work-Sharing (WS) Program is an adjustment program through Employment Insurance (EI) involving employers, employees and Service Canada. It is designed to help employers and employees avoid layoffs when there is a temporary reduction in the normal level of business activity that is beyond the control of the employer.
Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) has compiled data on various metrics related to WS applications and agreements. We have also archived statistics related to the WS special measures for employers affected by COVID-19.
The Canada Energy Regulator produces a table showing conditions from projects approved since 2010. This table lists conditions by company and by specific approval number. It also shows the current status of each condition. The conditions dataset is updated daily. This dataset is used in the Conditions on Energy Projects visualization tool on the Canada Energy Regulator website. The source code for the visualization tool is also available.
As part of a water quality survey, stream samples were collected throughout the Big Creek, Lynn River, and Nanticoke Creek Watershed in Southern Ontario in 2008. The project was undertaken to examine stream water quality under base flow conditions and was done in support of Environment and Climate Change Canada’s ongoing work to assess the status of the waters of the Great Lakes Basin. Sample collection was done at roadside stream crossings using a stainless steel bucket. Field parameters (temperature, specific conductivity, dissolved oxygen, pH) were determined on site using a YSI 600QS Sonde. Water quality parameters (major anions, major …
