The Geological Atlas of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin was designed primarily as a reference volume documenting the subsurface geology of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin. This GIS dataset is one of a collection of shapefiles representing part of Chapter 12 of the Atlas, Devonian Woodbend-Winterburn Strata of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin, Figure 17, Duvernay Interval Isopach and Lithofacies. Shapefiles were produced from archived digital files created by the Alberta Geological Survey in the mid-1990s, and edited in 2005-06 to correct, attribute and consolidate the data into single files by feature type and by figure.
This dataset (lineamentslnll.shp) comprises structural features compiled into GIS format from existing literature, published up to 2003. The data represent fault/lineament locations known or inferred in the Alberta Plains. We have chosen to digitize and publish all lineaments from source maps even where they extended beyond the Alberta boundary. Each compiled feature is characterized by a set of attributes including: affected formations (oldest affected and oldest non-affected stratigraphic unit), fault type, fault sense of displacement, evidence used to infer the fault/lineament, original reference information and publication scale, and an estimate of the georeferencing error. The completeness of the captured attribute …
All available bathymetry and related information for Kehiwin Lake were collected and hard copy maps digitized where necessary. The data were validated against more recent data (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission 'SRTM' imagery and Indian Remote Sensing 'IRS' imagery) and corrected where necessary. The published data set contains the lake bathymetry formatted as an Arc ascii grid. Bathymetric contours and the boundary polygon are available as shapefiles.
Alberta Geological Survey created a coal and coalbed methane (CBM) database to capture and manage CBM data. The database compiles different sources and contains information on 7923 wells (15,200 formation picks, 37,357 coal picks, 495 coal analyses and 363 vitrinite reflectance measurements). From this parent dataset, individual coal zones were evaluated. This record describes the Taber Coal Zone's vitrinite reflectance.
This dataset is part of the three-dimensional (3-D) hydrostratigraphic model of the Sylvan Lake sub-basin in the Edmonton-Calgary Corridor, central Alberta. It represents the structure top of hydrostratigraphic unit (HSU) S1, which contains coarse-grained material lying directly on bedrock and constrained to paleovalleys in the Neogene-Quaternary succession of the Sylvan Lake sub-basin. This dataset supplements Alberta Geological Survey (AGS) Open File Report 2014-10, which includes a full description of steps taken to produce the structure grid.
The Geological Atlas of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin was designed primarily as a reference volume documenting the subsurface geology of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin. This GIS dataset is one of a collection of shapefiles representing part of Chapter 13 of the Atlas, Devonian Wabamun Group of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin, Figure 4d, Wabamun Lithology Anhydrite. Shapefiles were produced from archived digital files created by the Alberta Geological Survey in the mid-1990s, and edited in 2005-06 to correct, attribute and consolidate the data into single files by feature type and by figure.
This map service provides access to most of the Resource Map datasets shown on the GeoAtlas application.
**Please Note – All published Saskatchewan Geological Survey datasets, including those available through the Saskatchewan Mining and Petroleum GeoAtlas, are sourced from the Enterprise GIS Data Warehouse. They are therefore identical and share the same refresh schedule. This map service is used by the GeoATLAS web application, sub-section Resource Map in the Mineral Exploration theme. It includes Base Metals Potential, Coal Potential, Gold Potential, Helium Potential, Bitumen (Oil Sands) Potential, Major Peat Resource Potential, Potash and Salt Resource Potential and Uranium Potential schema …
PCS Regions contains the boundaries of park regions for the administration and management purposes of provincial parks, recreation sites, protected areas, and historic sites by the Saskatchewan Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sports - Parks Division.
PCS Regions contains the topologically corrected boundaries of park regions. These were determined based on the location and number of provincial parks, recreation sites, protected areas, and historic sites and drawn using imagery for administration and management purposes by the Saskatchewan Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sports - Parks Division. These boundaries outline the area for which a Regional Director is responsible, jointly with …
