The Skills and Competencies Taxonomy streamlines the terminology of hundreds of occupational descriptors used in the labour market. Each descriptor is associated with one of the seven main categories (skills, abilities, personal attributes, knowledge, interests, work context and work activities), which are then further divided into sub-categories.
The Taxonomy improves the comparability of concepts and their application throughout occupations and sectors. Its also complements other federal, provincial, and territorial employment programs involving skills identification and utilization, and facilitates a Pan-Canadian dialogue on competencies.

AAFC has been conducting the Strategic Issues Survey, a survey of producers, since 2007. The research is designed to provide insight into the views of producers on current agricultural issues in Canada and on priorities and policies that affect the agriculture and agri-food sector. The survey builds on tracking questions from previous waves to note trends over time but also provides insights on new and evolving areas of interest to AAFC. This list is intended to standardize the way Canadian provinces and territories are described in datasets to enable data interoperability and improve data quality.
Not included in this standard are previous names, abbreviations and codes for provinces and territories. When changes occur in the future, version history will be maintained.
