It is designed to help employers and employees avoid layoffs when there is a temporary reduction in the normal level of business activity that is beyond the control of the employer.

Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) has compiled data on various metrics related to WS applications and agreements. We have also archived statistics related to the WS special measures for employers affected by COVID-19.

The Canadian Chronic Disease Surveillance System (CCDSS) uses linked administrative data sources from every province and territory to estimate the incidence and prevalence of chronic conditions, and, use of health services and health outcomes. Its aim is to foster the collection of surveillance data in a consistent and comparable way across jurisdictions. Patient privacy is protected since only population-level summaries are shared by the provinces and territories. Tracking health conditions through this approach complements other surveillance data sources, such as surveys and registries, and allows for timely reporting to support the planning and evaluation of policies and programs. Building on previous research waves in 2011 and 2016, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) launched a third wave of public opinion research to assess Canadians’ perceptions and attitudes towards emerging agricultural technologies and their applications in the sector, and to gather information on public trust regarding these technologies. Having explored some of these issues in past research, this study generated comparative data, allowing AAFC to track Canadians’ attitudes over time. Pursuant to section 2 of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Act, I preside over the Department, and have its management and direction in Canada and abroad. I hereby issue this Ministerial Direction.
