Building a comprehensive data inventory as required by section 6.3 of the Directive on Open Government:
“Establishing and maintaining comprehensive inventories of data and information resources of business value held by the department to determine their eligibility and priority, and to plan for their effective release.”
Creating a data inventory is among the first steps in identifying federal data that is eligible for release. As part of the Government of Canada’s commitment to experimentation, TBS is supporting an inventory of experiments implemented as part of Government of Canada’s programs and services. The main purpose of the inventory is to publicly describe planned and ongoing experiments so as to foster learning and minimize duplication. The preregistration of experiments is also recognized as a good practice that favors transparency and prevents bias and data dredging.
Departments subject to the 2017 Directive on Internal Audit are to proactively disclose remuneration and expenses of individual external departmental audit committee members appointed by Treasury Board. In accordance with the Access to Information Act, the government proactively publishes the package of question period notes that were prepared by a government institution for the minister and that were in use on the last sitting day in June and December.
The question period notes may be partially or fully redacted in accordance with the legislation; for example, if the notes contain information related to national security or personal information.

This dataset contains the financial reporting account (FRA) classification structure and the descriptions for each of the FRAs. The FRAs are used for the government-wide reporting purposes. The FRAs identify the relevant asset, liability, net assets/equity, revenue, and expense accounts that are required for financial reporting, and for preparing the consolidated financial statements for the Government of Canada.
As of fiscal year 2019 to 2020 and under the new Treasury Board Secretariat Policy on Results (https://www.tbs-sct.gc.ca/pol/doc-eng.aspx?id=31300), all departments have implemented the new Departmental Results Framework. This framework, which replaces the Program Alignment Architecture (PAA), consists of departmental core responsibilities and their related program inventory. These codes are used to reflect the resources allocated to the achievement of government objectives. The format of these codes is composed of a 5 digit field: 3 alpha (capital letter) and 2 numeric digit codes.
