Maintenance
We are performing scheduled maintenance from 8:00am to 12:00pm, Monday, December 4th, Eastern time. The coal zone boundary for the Drumheller Coal Zone is based on subcrops generated by Alberta Geological Survey Special Report 007 (Regional Evaluation of the Coalbed Methane Potential in the Plains and Foothills of Alberta, Stratigraphy and Rank Study). We used additional coal picks from various sourcesto refine the boundary.
This kimberlite xenocryst dataset includes the electronic microprobe data from silicate and oxide xenocryst minerals from various ultrabasic to kimberlite rock occurrences in the northern Alberta kimberlite province. These data, which total 4,285 analyses, include 897 garnet 533 clinopyroxene 791 olivine 275 phlogopite 870 spinel/chromite 919 ilmenite
Locations of uraniferous boulders fields and uraniferous swamps extracted from industry assessment reports are useful metallogenetic indicators for uranium exploration within and around the Athabasca Basin. They are used as pathfinders to uranium occurrences and prospects. These locations along the northern rim of the Athabasca Basin in Alberta have been compiled in GIS format and delivered as a polygon shapefile. In Alberta, the northern rim of the Athabasca Basin and the regolith underlying the Athabasca unconformity are locally exposed along the northern shore of Lake Athabasca. Extensive uranium exploration work in the 1970s, including scintillometer prospecting traverses, geological mapping, airborne …
All available bathymetry and related information for Beauvallon Lake were collected and hard copy maps digitized where necessary. The data were validated against more recent data (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission 'SRTM' imagery and Indian Remote Sensing 'IRS' imagery) and corrected where necessary. The published data set contains the lake bathymetry formatted as an Arc ascii grid. Bathymetric contours and the boundary polygon are available as shapefiles.
All available bathymetry and related information for Skeleton Lake were collected and hard copy maps digitized where necessary.
The Cold Lake oil sands area - Township 56 to 69, Range 1 to 11, west of the 4th Meridian, falls within the Lower Athabasca Regional Plan (LARP). As part of Alberta's Land-use Framework, LARP was developed in 2012 to set the stage for robust growth, vibrant communities and a healthy environment within the region. One of its implementation objectives is to balance the economic development of oil sands and impacts on the ecosystem and environment. This is to be achieved through an enhanced science-based monitoring for improved characterization of the environment and to collect the information necessary to understand …
The bedrock topography of Alberta is the surface of the top of Upper Cretaceous and Paleogene bedrock, and reveals geomorphic features created by Paleogene to Recent river systems and Quaternary glaciation. This grid is a computer-generated geostatistical model of the bedrock topography of Alberta using previously published information from Alberta Geological Survey (AGS) maps and reports, as well as new data. The quality of this data has been assessed and then a quality-weighting approach was applied to the dataset prior to interpolation. The surface was modelled using a 500m x 500m grid cell spacing, and as such should not be …
This GIS dataset depicts the surficial geology of the Dizzy Creek area (NTS 84N/SE) (point features). The data are created in geodatabase format and output for public distribution in shapefile format. These data comprise the point features of Alberta Geological Survey Map 540, Surficial Geology of the Dizzy Creek Area (NTS 84N/SE).
A digital grid of the subcrop edge of the Clearwater Formation, originally modeled from borehole data and adjusted to present-day and paleo river erosion. Values in the grid correspond to areas where the unit is present (denoted by the number '8'), or where it is absent (denoted by the null value '-9999'). The grid is generated at a 250 m cell-size resolution, based on information as recent as 2003.
The dataset provides the known and estimated locations of active and inactive federal and provincial research plots in Alberta. The research plots includes: the Alberta Permanent Sampling Program (PSP) which incorporates Alberta Forest Service (AFS) plots, Stand Dynamic Stands (SDS) and Forest Management Plots (FMB). Alberta Monitoring Plots (MP). Western Boreal Growth and Yield (WESBOGY) Plots, TAKI Pine Trial Plots, Mountain Pine Beetle (MPB) Monitoring Plots. Duffy (DUF) Lake Plots. and miscellaneous research plots (RES) including range and genetic trial plots. All attempts to position the plot points as accurately as possible have been made however as many research programs …
