The Provincial Electoral Division - Historical 2010 dataset is comprised of all the polygons that represent the areas in Alberta established as electoral divisions under the Alberta Electoral Divisions Act of December 2, 2010. This dataset reflects the legally valid boundaries for provincial general elections and for provincial by-elections, and supersedes all previously published electoral division datasets.
The Rangeland Management Zones dataset is comprised of all the polygons that represent the Rangeland Management Zones in Alberta. A Rangeland Management Zone is an administrative area designated by the Lands Division in which grazing and other agricultural uses related to public land are managed by regional branch offices. The boundaries are used to ensure referrals are sent to the correct locations. The Rangeland Management Zones was formerly known as Alberta Sustainable Resource Development Rangeland Management Districts.
The Registered Fur Management Area dataset is comprised of all the polygons that represent the Registered Fur Management Areas in Alberta. A Registered Fur Management Area (RFMA) is a parcel of public land the boundary of which is described on the Registered Fur Management Licence. A Registered Fur Management Licence permits the licence holder to hunt and trap fur-bearing animals on the lands described on the licence.
This GIS dataset depicts the surficial geology of the Dizzy Creek area (NTS84N/SE) (polygon features). The data are created in geodatabase format and output for public distribution in shapefile format. These data comprise the polygon features of Alberta Geological Survey Map 540, Surficial Geology of the Dizzy Creek Area (NTS 84N/SE).
All available bathymetry and related information for Chain Lakes were collected and hard copy maps digitized where necessary. The data were validated against more recent data (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission 'SRTM' imagery and Indian Remote Sensing 'IRS' imagery) and corrected where necessary. The published data set contains the lake bathymetry formatted as an Arc ascii grid. Bathymetric contours and the boundary polygon are available as shapefiles.
The data in this information product illustrates the boundaries of Alberta's 87 Provincial Electoral Divisions. Electoral Boundaries are defined by the Alberta Election Act, Chapter E-1, 2018. Provincial Electoral Divisions (PEDs) are territorial units represented by an elected Member to serve in the Alberta Provincial Legislative Assembly. The Provincial Electoral Divisions used in this information product were enacted in December 2017 and came into effect for the 2019 provincial general election.
This GIS dataset depicts the surficial geology of the Levellers Creek area (NTS 84E/NW) (discontinuous permafrost features). The data were created in geodatabase format and output for public distribution in shapefile format. These data comprise the permafrost polygon features of Alberta Geological Survey Map 574, Surficial Geology of the Levellers Creek Area (NTS 84E/NW).
Alberta Geological Survey created a coal and coalbed methane (CBM) database to capture and manage CBM data. The database compiles different sources and contains information on 7923 wells (15,200 formation picks, 37,357 coal picks, 495 coal analyses and 363 vitrinite reflectance measurements). From this parent dataset, individual coal zones were evaluated. This record describes the Lethbridge Coal Zone's vitrinite reflectance.
The Geological Atlas of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin was designed primarily as a reference volume documenting the subsurface geology of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin. This GIS dataset is one of a collection of shapefiles representing part of Chapter 18 of the Atlas, Jurassic and Lowermost Cretaceous Strata of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin, Figure 19, Nordegg/Red Deer Isopach and Lithofacies. Shapefiles were produced from archived digital files created by the Alberta Geological Survey in the mid-1990s, and edited in 2005-06 to correct, attribute and consolidate the data into single files by feature type and by figure.
