DISCLAIMER - Current ATCO Gas data is available up to 2019 as-builts only. This dataset represents all rural low-pressure pipelines (less than 700 kPa) in Alberta under the jurisdiction of the Gas Distribution Act which include Gas Co-ops, First Nations, Counties, Private Systems, Apex Utilities, and ATCO Gas and is based on annual submissions of as-builts to Rural Utilities, Alberta Alberta Affordability and Utilities. The attributes of the pipelines contain the contact info, plus the status of the pipelines as being either Active or Abandoned. Rural Utilities assumes no responsibility as to the accuracy or completeness of these plans, Individual …
In 2014, the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) initiated a Play-Based Regulation (PBR) pilot project as a step towards implementation of the Unconventional Regulatory Framework. One of the goals of the PBR pilot is to encourage companies in the unconventional play area to work together on plans for surface development to minimize the numbers of facilities and surface impacts. This dataset is one of a series created using earth observation imagery to assess surface change caused by energy exploration. The PBR area extends from Twp. 52, Rge. 7, W 5th Mer. to Twp. 70, Rge. 5, W 6th Mer., covering the …
This GIS data set depicts the faults in the Peace River Arch Region, based on petroleum well log data including formation picks. Well data were sourced from Accumap and EUB data sets. These faults are interpreted from structure top residual surfaces generated by the removal of geological trend. The geological trend was modelled using geostatistical analysis to highlight local offset in multiple, easily recognizable formation tops. The stratigraphic interval considered was from the Cretaceous down to the top of the PreCambrian.
All available bathymetry and related information for Hastings Lake were collected and hard copy maps digitized where necessary. The data were validated against more recent data (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission 'SRTM' imagery and Indian Remote Sensing 'IRS' imagery) and corrected where necessary. The published data set contains the lake bathymetry formatted as an Arc ascii grid. Bathymetric contours and the boundary polygon are available as shapefiles.
All available bathymetry and related information for Swan Lake were collected and hard copy maps digitized where necessary.
The Cold Lake oil sands area - Township 56 to 69, Range 1 to 11, west of the 4th Meridian, falls within the Lower Athabasca Regional Plan (LARP). As part of Alberta's Land-use Framework, LARP was developed in 2012 to set the stage for robust growth, vibrant communities and a healthy environment within the region. One of its implementation objectives is to balance the economic development of oil sands and impacts on the ecosystem and environment. This is to be achieved through an enhanced science-based monitoring for improved characterization of the environment and to collect the information necessary to understand …
This GIS dataset depicts the surficial geology of the NTS map area 84B (point features). The 1:250 000 scale dataset was compiled from four published 1:100 000 scale maps (AGS maps 265, 266, 267 and 267). The aggregated data was generalized by thinning out features where too dense to be represented clearly. The process was overseen by the mapping geologist. The data are created in ArcInfo format and output for public distribution in Arc export (E00) and shapefile formats.
The Geological Atlas of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin was designed primarily as a reference volume documenting the subsurface geology of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin. This GIS dataset is one of a collection of shapefiles representing part of Chapter 11 of the Atlas, Devonian Beaverhill Lake Group of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin, Figure 1, Beaverhill Lake Regional Paleogeography. Shapefiles were produced from archived digital files created by the Alberta Geological Survey in the mid-1990s, and edited in 2005-06 to correct, attribute and consolidate the data into single files by feature type and by figure.
This dataset represents the topography of the top of the Paskapoo Formation, which is also the bedrock topography in the western part of Alberta. We clipped the surface from Alberta Geological Survey's Bedrock Topography of Alberta grid using the areal extent of the Paskapoo Formation shown on Alberta Geological Survey Map 236, Geological Map of Alberta. The dataset is in ESRI ASCII grid format
Alberta Geological Survey created a coal and coalbed methane (CBM) database to capture and manage CBM data. The database compiles different sources and contains information on 7923 wells (15,200 formation picks, 37,357 coal picks, 495 coal analyses and 363 vitrinite reflectance measurements). From this parent dataset, individual coal zone was evaluated. This record describes the Mannville coal zone net coal thickness.
