Maintenance
We are performing scheduled maintenance from 8:00am to 12:00pm, Monday, December 4th, Eastern time. This map, created in 2002 using ArcGIS, describes the number of animal and plant species that are at risk in Alberta. 'Species at risk' is a term used by the Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada (COSEWIC) that includes the following categories of plants and animals:Extirpated species - no longer in the wild in Canada.Endangered species - species facing imminent extirpation or extinction.Threatened species - likely to become an endangered species if nothing is done to reverse factors leading to its extirpation or extinction.Species of special concern - species that may become threatened or endangered due to …
The dataset includes subsurface stratigraphic picks of the tops of the Horseshoe Canyon/Wapiti and Battle formations in the west-central Alberta Plains (Townships 15 to 67, Ranges 16W4 to 3W6) made from wireline geophysical well logs. The dataset supplements Alberta Geological Survey Open File Report 2011-08, which describes the methodology. We screened the well data to detect errors resulting from deviated wells, as well as incorrect well-header ground and kelly bushing elevation data. Statistical methods identified local and regional statistical outliers, which were examined individually.
All available bathymetry and related information for Outpost Lake were collected and hard copy maps digitized where necessary. The data were validated against more recent data (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission 'SRTM' imagery and Indian Remote Sensing 'IRS' imagery) and corrected where necessary. The published data set contains the lake bathymetry formatted as an Arc ascii grid. Bathymetric contours and the boundary polygon are available as shapefiles.
All available bathymetry and related information for Frog Lake were collected and hard copy maps digitized where necessary.
The Grazing Rental Zones is comprised of two polygons which determine which zone a grazing disposition (GRL, FGL, GRP) is in. These zones are used to apply the rental rate that grazing leases (GRL), grazing licenses (FGL) and grazing permits (GRP) pay to the government of Alberta for use of public lands. The Public Lands Modernization (Grazing Lease and Obsolete Provisions) Amendment Act came into force January 1, 2020. Under the new rental rate framework (Ministerial Order 01/2020), there are now two grazing rental rate zones based on the transition of the boreal region of the province. The North Saskatchewan …
This digital dataset is the compilation of an analysis of the in situ stress regime in several regions of Alberta and northeastern British Columbia conducted by Dr. Sebastian Bell under a contract with the Alberta Geological Survey from 1999 to 2004. The dataset includes both new and previously published estimates for vertical stress gradients, minimum horizontal stress gradients, and stress orientation. Understanding the state of stress in the subsurface has always been important in the development of energy resources. The recent development of unconventional oil sand and low permeability hydrocarbon deposits, waste fluid disposal, greenhouse gas sequestration, and potential geothermal …
A digital grid of the subcrop edge of the Viking Formation, originally modeled from borehole data and adjusted to present-day and paleo river erosion. Values in the grid correspond to areas where the unit is present (denoted by the number '25'), or where it is absent (denoted by the null value '-9999'). The grid is generated at a 250 m cell-size resolution, based on information as recent as 2003.
This GIS dataset depicts the surficial geology of the NTS map area 84L northeast ( polygon features). The data are created in ArcInfo format and output for public distribution in Arc export (E00) and shapefile formats.
DISCLAIMER - Current ATCO Gas data is available up to 2019 as-builts only. This dataset represents all rural low-pressure pipelines (less than 700 kPa) in Alberta under the jurisdiction of the Gas Distribution Act which include Gas Co-ops, First Nations, Counties, Private Systems, Apex Utilities, and ATCO Gas and is based on annual submissions of as-builts to Rural Utilities, Alberta Alberta Affordability and Utilities. The attributes of the pipelines contain the contact info, plus the status of the pipelines as being either Active or Abandoned. Rural Utilities assumes no responsibility as to the accuracy or completeness of these plans, Individual …
In 2014, the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) initiated a Play-Based Regulation (PBR) pilot project as a step towards implementation of the Unconventional Regulatory Framework. One of the goals of the PBR pilot is to encourage companies in the unconventional play area to work together on plans for surface development to minimize the numbers of facilities and surface impacts. This dataset is one of a series created using earth observation imagery to assess surface change caused by energy exploration. The PBR area extends from Twp. 52, Rge. 7, W 5th Mer. to Twp. 70, Rge. 5, W 6th Mer., covering the …
