This GIS dataset portrays the distribution of glacial landforms in Alberta, based on the compilation of existing government survey mapping and research literature, supplemented by new analysis of remote sensing data. It is the dataset that was used to create Alberta Geological Survey Map 604 (Glacial Landforms of Alberta) using an intermediate step of reducing the density of closely spaced line segments to make the features suitable for map production at 1:1 000 000 scale. This dataset contains the original line features without any cartographic generalization. The data were created in geodatabase format and output for public distribution in shapefile …
All available bathymetry and related information for Little Beaver Lake were collected and hard copy maps digitized where necessary. The data were validated against more recent data (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission 'SRTM' imagery and Indian Remote Sensing 'IRS' imagery) and corrected where necessary. The published data set contains the lake bathymetry formatted as an Arc ascii grid. Bathymetric contours and the boundary polygon are available as shapefiles.
This GIS dataset depicts the surficial geology of the NTS map area 84B Northwest (polygon features). The data are created in ArcInfo format and output for public distribution in Arc export (E00) and shapefile formats.
This GIS dataset comprises the geological polygon features of Map 180, Geology of the Precambrian Shield in northeastern Alberta, NTS 74M and NTS 74L, published by the Alberta Geological Survey (polygon features). The data are created in ArcInfo and output for public distribution in shapefile format.
All available bathymetry and related information for Crowsnest Lake were collected and hard copy maps digitized where necessary.
The Geological Atlas of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin was designed primarily as a reference volume documenting the subsurface geology of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin. This GIS dataset is one of a collection of shapefiles representing part of Chapter 12 of the Atlas, Devonian Woodbend-Winterburn Strata of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin, Figure 17, Duvernay Interval Isopach and Lithofacies. Shapefiles were produced from archived digital files created by the Alberta Geological Survey in the mid-1990s, and edited in 2005-06 to correct, attribute and consolidate the data into single files by feature type and by figure.
This GIS dataset depicts the surficial geology of the Yates River area (NTS 84N/NE) (polygon features). The data are created in geodatabase format and output for public distribution in shapefile format. These data comprise the polygon features of Alberta Geological Survey Map 552, Surficial Geology of the Yates River Area (NTS 84N/NE).
The Provincial Sanctuary - Corridor Wildlife dataset is comprised of all the polygons that represent the Provincial Sanctuary - Corridor Wildlife areas in Alberta. Provincial Sanctuary - Corridor Wildlife is area designated for the protection of wildlife within 400 yards corridors of various road centre-lines.
All available bathymetry and related information for Lac Sante were collected and hard copy maps digitized where necessary.
The Forest Management Agreement Area dataset is comprised of all the polygons that represent the areas of land which the Province of Alberta agrees upon Forest Management Agreement holders having the rights to establish, grow, harvest and remove timber. This dataset is produced for the Government of Alberta and is available to the general public. Please consult the Distribution Information of this metadata for the appropriate contact to acquire this dataset.
