The Geological Atlas of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin was designed primarily as a reference volume documenting the subsurface geology of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin. This GIS dataset is one of a collection of shapefiles representing part of Chapter 3 of the Atlas, Structure and Architecture of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin, Figure 6, Structural controls in the Peace River area. Shapefiles were produced from archived digital files created by the Alberta Geological Survey in the mid-1990s, and edited in 2005-06 to correct, attribute and consolidate the data into single files by feature type and by figure.
The Geological Atlas of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin was designed primarily as a reference volume documenting the subsurface geology of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin. This GIS dataset is one of a collection of shapefiles representing part of Chapter 13 of the Atlas, Devonian Wabamun Group of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin, Figure 1, Wabamun Basins, Arches and Shelves. Shapefiles were produced from archived digital files created by the Alberta Geological Survey in the mid-1990s, and edited in 2005-06 to correct, attribute and consolidate the data into single files by feature type and by figure.
The dataset provides the known and estimated locations of active and inactive federal and provincial research plots in Alberta. The research plots includes: the Alberta Permanent Sampling Program (PSP) which incorporates Alberta Forest Service (AFS) plots, Stand Dynamic Stands (SDS) and Forest Management Plots (FMB). Alberta Monitoring Plots (MP). Western Boreal Growth and Yield (WESBOGY) Plots, TAKI Pine Trial Plots, Mountain Pine Beetle (MPB) Monitoring Plots. Duffy (DUF) Lake Plots. and miscellaneous research plots (RES) including range and genetic trial plots. All attempts to position the plot points as accurately as possible have been made however as many research programs …
These data vectors are digitized from field maps created by Dr. Jozsef Toth during his 1964 to 1969 fieldwork. Dr. Toth is a distinguished hydrogeologist who developed and published his landmark 'Unit Basin' theory of steady state flow leading to the fundamental concept in hydrogeology known as 'Tothian flow system theory'. His contributions to hydrogeology turned the Research Council of Alberta, and subsequently the University of Alberta, into internationally renowned institutions for hydrogeological research. Within this shapefile there are three regional lines which run parallel to dip in the Alberta basin. These lines are the boundaries used by Dr. Toth …
In 2014, the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) initiated a Play-Based Regulation (PBR) pilot project as a step towards implementation of the Unconventional Regulatory Framework. One of the goals of the PBR pilot is to encourage companies in the unconventional play area to work together on plans for surface development to minimize the numbers of facilities and surface impacts. This dataset is one of a series created using earth observation imagery to assess surface change caused by energy exploration. The PBR area extends from Twp. 52, Rge. 7, W 5th Mer. to Twp. 70, Rge. 5, W 6th Mer., covering the …
This dataset is a GIS version of Alberta Geological Survey Map 139, line features, as mapped at 1:250,000 scale.
The Regulatory Assurance Division District Boundaries dataset is comprised of all the polygons that represent the Environment and Protected Areas Regulatory Assurance Division District Boundaries within the Province of Alberta. The dataset is to help Government of Alberta Staff in managing workloads within the Regulatory Assurance Division.
All available bathymetry and related information for Battle Lake were collected and hard copy maps digitized where necessary. The data were validated against more recent data (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission 'SRTM' imagery and Indian Remote Sensing 'IRS' imagery) and corrected where necessary. The published data set contains the lake bathymetry formatted as an Arc ascii grid. Bathymetric contours and the boundary polygon are available as shapefiles.
All available bathymetry and related information for Fickle Lake were collected and hard copy maps digitized where necessary.
All available bathymetry and related information for Square Lake were collected and hard copy maps digitized where necessary.
