This GIS dataset depicts the surficial geology of the NTS map area 83P Southwest (point features). The data are created in ArcInfo format and output for public distribution in Arc export (E00) and shapefile formats.
All available bathymetry and related information for Obed Lake were collected and hard copy maps digitized where necessary. The data were validated against more recent data (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission 'SRTM' imagery and Indian Remote Sensing 'IRS' imagery) and corrected where necessary. The published data set contains the lake bathymetry formatted as an Arc ascii grid. Bathymetric contours and the boundary polygon are available as shapefiles.
The Geological Atlas of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin was designed primarily as a reference volume documenting the subsurface geology of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin. This GIS dataset is one of a collection of shapefiles representing part of Chapter 12 of the Atlas, Devonian Woodbend-Winterburn Strata of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin, Figure 34, Nisku Isopach and Lithofacies. Shapefiles were produced from archived digital files created by the Alberta Geological Survey in the mid-1990s, and edited in 2005-06 to correct, attribute and consolidate the data into single files by feature type and by figure.
The Provincial Parks Act provides for designation of lands to be managed under the Act that are not established as parks/protected areas. These lands are 'declared' under the Provincial Parks (Section 7 Declaration) Regulation, and are legally described in Schedules to the Regulation. Specific provisions of the Act and regulations may be applied to each land parcel declared under section 7 to provide for management of the lands. Section 7 is used to address interim management of lands that have been acquired for park/protected area purposes but are not yet designated, or where activities not permitted in a park/protected area …
The Geological Atlas of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin was designed primarily as a reference volume documenting the subsurface geology of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin. This GIS dataset is one of a collection of shapefiles representing part of Chapter 17 of the Atlas, Paleographic Evolution of the Western Canada Foreland Basin, Figure 6, Middle Upper Mannville (and Equivalents) Paleogeography. Shapefiles were produced from archived digital files created by the Alberta Geological Survey in the mid-1990s, and edited in 2005-06 to correct, attribute and consolidate the data into single files by feature type and by figure.
This GIS dataset is part of a digital compilation of the bedrock geology of Alberta. It is one of the datasets used to produce Alberta Geological Survey (AGS) Map 600. This dataset contains 1) geological units that are represented by lines because they are too narrow to represent as polygons at 1:1 000 000 scale. 2) stratigraphic terminology boundaries that represent the approximate locations of where the names applied to intervals of strata change. These commonly correspond to lateral facies changes, which are gradational. The data were created in geodatabase format and output for public distribution in shapefile format. AGS …
In 2014, the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) initiated a Play-Based Regulation (PBR) pilot project as a step towards implementation of the Unconventional Regulatory Framework. One of the goals of the PBR pilot is to encourage companies in the unconventional play area to work together on plans for surface development to minimize the numbers of facilities and surface impacts. This dataset is one of a series created using earth observation imagery to assess surface change caused by energy exploration. The PBR area extends from Twp. 52, Rge. 7, W 5th Mer. to Twp. 70, Rge. 5, W 6th Mer., covering the …
The base of the Paskapoo Formation is unconformable with the underlying Scollard Formation. Alberta Geological Survey differentiates the Paskapoo Formation from the underlying Scollard Formation by the first thick sandstone above the uppermost coal seam of the Ardley coal zone. We defined 'thick sandstone' to be 5 m or more thick. This dataset contains the gridded results of the structural surface of the base of the Paskapoo Formation modelled from stratigraphic picks of the >5 m sand above the Scollard Formation coal from oil and gas industry gamma-ray logs. We modelled only the undeformed part of the Paskapoo Formation, which …
This GIS dataset depicts the surficial geology of the NTS map area 84M southeast ( line features). The data are created in ArcInfo format and output for public distribution in Arc export (E00) and shapefile formats.
This GIS dataset depicts the surficial geology of the Hamburg Area (NTS 84E/SW) (GIS data, line features). The data were created in geodatabase format and output for public distribution in shapefile format. These data comprise the line features of Alberta Geological Survey Map 565, Surficial Geology of the Hamburg Area (NTS 84E/SW).
