Sub-regional plans are Alberta's approach to supporting caribou recovery through careful land-use planning which recognizes and maintains working landscapes supporting a variety of social, economic and traditional land-use. The Caribou Sub-Regional Plan Boundaries dataset contains boundaries delineating the extent of sub-regional planning areas across northern Alberta. Sub-regional planning areas include those for the approved Bistcho Lake and Cold Lake sub-regional plans, as well as the following upcoming planning areas: Upper Smoky, Wandering River, Berland, Chinchaga, Slave Lake, Wabasca, Richardson, Red Earth, and Caribou Mountains. All available bathymetry and related information for Black Mud Lake were collected and hard copy maps digitized where necessary. The data were validated against more recent data (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission 'SRTM' imagery and Indian Remote Sensing 'IRS' imagery) and corrected where necessary. The published data set contains the lake bathymetry formatted as an Arc ascii grid. Bathymetric contours and the boundary polygon are available as shapefiles.

The Geological Atlas of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin was designed primarily as a reference volume documenting the subsurface geology of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin. This GIS dataset is one of a collection of shapefiles representing part of Chapter 8 of the Atlas, Middle Cambrian to Lower Ordovician Strata of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin, Figure 1, Index map showing the present distribution of Middle Cambrian to Lower Ordovician. Shapefiles were produced from archived digital files created by the Alberta Geological Survey in the mid-1990s, and edited in 2005-06 to correct, attribute and consolidate the data into single files …

In November 2005, participants at the Workshop on Geological Storage of CO2 at Princeton University agreed on the need for a common test problem to assess various models to simulate the fate of CO2 injected into the subsurface. Alberta Geological Survey offered to make available the data for the Wabamun Lake area in Alberta, Canada, which were assembled to develop a comprehensive model for studying CO2 geological storage. The Wabamun Lake area, southwest of Edmonton in central Alberta, was selected as the test area because a variety of favourable conditions identified it as a potential site for future, large-scale CO2 …
