• Our Government believes the best way to resolve outstanding issues is through a respectful and collaborative dialogue, which is vital to building stronger relationships and advancing reconciliation for the benefit of Indigenous communities and all Canadians.

• Officials are working with counterparts for Ontario, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy Chiefs Council and the Six Nations Elected Council to organize the proposed meeting.

• Canada deeply values its relationship with Six Nations and is committed to continuing to work collaboratively to address Six Nations’ historical claims and land rights issues.
• We have put in place flexible processes to allow for the exploration of new ways achieve this goal, such as those identified in the Coyle report.
• This independent report and the fact finder’s work marked an important first step in opening lines of communication at that time and also helped build understanding for the negotiations and discussions that followed.

• We know that a strong, independent and free press is essential in the protection of our democracy and of its institutions.
• Our government fully appreciates and encourages the essential role journalists play in reporting on issues of concern.
• Media provide our communities with critical information for their safety and well-being, while also holding individuals and institutions to account.
• However, it is important to note that the enforcement of this injunction falls to the province and the decision is with the Solicitor General of Ontario and the Ontario Provincial police
