• We recognize that that the Indian Act is a colonial, racist and unjust law.
• We are committed to working with Indigenous partners toward nation-to-nation relationships and to accelerating Indigenous self-determination, including through policy and legislative changes.
• We are currently working in partnership with Indigenous communities at over 150 negotiation tables to advance self-determination through treaties, self-government agreements and other constructive arrangements.
• We will continue to collaborate with First Nations in order to find ways to move beyond the Indian Act.
