The mistreatment of Indigenous Peoples is a tragic and shameful part of Canada’s history, the impacts of which are still felt today.

· The Government of Canada regrets past actions and policies that harmed Indigenous children, their families and communities, and is committed to advancing reconciliation and laying the foundation for intergenerational healing.

· Canada consented to the certification of the Indian Hospitals class action (Ann Cecile Hardy v. Attorney General of Canada). The parties are engaged in ongoing discussions.
