If pressed on CIRNAC’s delay in funding
• Through Budget 2021 and other funding, Canada has allocated nearly $26.4M to 149 Indigenous organizations representing a broad cross-section of Indigenous peoples.
• While there were a number of early challenges in flowing funding, Justice did allow an extended timeframe for consultation to mitigate the issue.
If pressed on CIRNAC’s role
• CIRNAC has supported Justice and partners throughout the engagement phase, including through the administration of funding to Indigenous partners, and is currently involved in assessing many of the proposed measures submitted by partners for the Action Plan.
• To date, the level of partner submissions has been substantial and diverse.
