Suggested Response:
• The voices of Indigenous women are essential to the shared journey of reconciliation and healing as a country.
• In February 2019, a whole-of-government relationship agreement was signed with the Native Women’s Association of Canada.
• We have provided over $14.7 million in funding to implement the agreement and support the organization bringing forward the voices and perspectives of Indigenous women for inclusion in policy and program development.
• Federal departments also work with the Native Women’s Association of Canada to identify shared priorities and interests that are supported through priority specific project funding.

Additional Information:
If pressed on funding
• CIRNAC provides $1 million per year to NWAC in core funding, through a new five-year agreement that was put in place in fiscal year 2023-24.
• This funding is a contribution toward the operations of the organization and supports the inclusion of Indigenous women’s perspectives in government policies and programs, as well as advancing key shared mandate priorities.
• We will continue to work in partnership with NWAC to make progress on priorities important to Indigenous women.
If pressed on further funding
• In addition, to the core operations funding and Accord implementation funding NWAC received $1.1 million in project funding in 2023-24, including for capacity to engage on implementing the Calls for Justice and from the Wellbeing of Families and Survivors of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and 2SLGBTQQIA+ People Program.
• The organization also receives project funding from other federal departments in addition to CIRNAC.
