• This Government is committed to moving forward on the implementation of the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls’ Calls for Justice and the National Action Plan.
• 215 out of the 231 Calls for Justice call upon the Government of Canada to take action, either independently or in collaboration with other jurisdictions. Progress has been achieved on the Calls for Justice thanks to the relentless efforts of Indigenous partners.

Additional Information:

• I will be reviewing the work of the Ministerial Special Representative on Call for Justice 1.7, which calls for the creation of an Indigenous and Human Rights Ombudsperson, and what was heard from Indigenous partners, families, and survivors on oversight mechanisms related to Call for Justice 1.10.
• The government is committed to continue working with and supporting Indigenous communities, grassroots organizations and provincial and territorial governments to advance a Red Dress Alert to help keep Indigenous women, girls, and Two-Spirit+ people safe.
• A regional pilot is being led by Giganawenimaanaanig [Gee-gaa-naa-way-ne-maa-na-nig], an Indigenous organization in Manitoba, supported by federal funding and in partnership with the Manitoba government. We look forward to the roll-out and findings of this pilot.
• It is a first step in understanding how a wider scale alerting system could work. It is being co-developed and led by Indigenous voices, knowledge and lived experiences.
