• On February 28, 2025, a proposed Settlement Agreement was reached to resolve the Federal Indian Hospitals litigation.
• The Government of Canada has agreed to provide individual compensation to former patients who suffered verbal, psychological, physical, and/or sexual abuse at one of the 33 Federal Indian Hospitals.
• The Government of Canada has also agreed to provide funding for healing, wellness, reconciliation, protection of languages, education, commemoration activities, research and preservation of the history of these Hospitals.

• The Federal Court will review and approve the terms of the agreement to ensure they are fair, reasonable, and in the best interests of all parties.
• The parties will working collaboratively to ensure the claims process moves forward in an efficient and timely manner.
