• Polar Knowledge Canada and its flagship Canadian High Arctic Research Station in Cambridge Bay, Nunavut is playing a key role in advancing this important scientific research agenda in our North, working hand-in-hand with territorial and Indigenous partners, the private sector, and academia.

If pressed on the Government Response (GR) to the 2nd Report of the Standing Committee on Science and Research (SRSR-2), Science and Research in Canada’s Arctic in Relation to Climate Change
• The Government of Canada thanks the Standing Committee on Science and Research for its work and is grateful to the many witnesses who shared their insights, wisdom, and lived experiences with the Committee.
• We agree in principle with the Committee’s report and recommendations and look forward to engaging broadly on ways to support Arctic research and strengthen the role of northern and Indigenous communities in research.
• A strong and coordinated Arctic and northern science system that fully incorporates Indigenous Knowledge and science is a shared priority of the co-developed Arctic and Northern Policy Framework, critical to the full and effective implementation of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act and is central to advancing the reconciliation journey and self-determination.
