• The Government of Canada, the Government of Nunavut, and Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated signed the Nunavut Lands and Resources Devolution Agreement on January 18, 2024.
• This is a historic agreement that will provide the residents of Nunavut or Nunavummiut greater local control and accountability for decisions related to their lands and resources.
• The Parties agreed to a three-year period to implement the devolution agreement and the plans are on track. A transition of responsibilities is planned for April 1, 2027.
