• Canada believes that the best way to address outstanding issues and advance reconciliation with Indigenous peoples is through negotiation and dialogue.
• We recognize that access to justice issues are central to the appeal in Foxgate Developments Inc. v. Skyler Williams et al. Access to justice is a fundamental principle in Canada’s legal system. All Canadians have a right to a fair and reasonable opportunity to fully defend themselves in court.

If pressed on the cancellation of the McKenzie Meadows housing development
• We recognize that the situation at McKenzie Meadows, including the developer’s decision not to proceed with the development, has impacted surrounding communities and individuals.
• The Government of Canada remains committed to working with the Six Nations Elected Council, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy Chiefs Council and the Government of Ontario to resolve the complex claims and related issued underlying the protest at McKenzie Meadows.
