CANNOR – Budget 2025

Suggested Response:

• The Government of Canada is working with Indigenous and territorial partners to strengthen northern economies by accelerating project approvals, delivering transformative infrastructure investments, and supporting meaningful Indigenous participation in economic growth.

• CanNor is advancing Budget 2025 commitments through the Support for Northern Infrastructure Development initiative, with $41.7 million over four years to strengthen the regulatory, consultation and engagement, and project-readiness foundations needed to accelerate major infrastructure development in the territories.

• In collaboration with Transport Canada and Indigenous partners, CanNor’s Support for Northern Infrastructure Development initiative supports Arctic Infrastructure Fund projects and other major northern initiatives as they progress from concept through assessment, permitting, and early-stage development.

• For 2025-26, CanNor’s total authorities are $105.5 million, including $26.7 million in Supplementary Estimates (B). These investments fund key initiatives such as the Defence Industrial Strategy Early Moves, the Yukon Gathering Place, and the Northern Projects Management Office.

• CanNor is working to integrate AI and digital tools to increase efficiency, boost productivity, and improve client service, while advancing Indigenous economic reconciliation. This approach supports sustainable job creation and Canada’s long-term northern prosperity goals.
