Tabling of the Supplementary Estimates (C) 2025–26

Suggested Response:

• Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions supports Quebec businesses and communities through strategic investments in grants and contributions.
• Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions is a key federal player in Quebec’s entrepreneurial network through the projects it funds and its role as a networker and integrator.
• Under the Supplementary Estimates (C), Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions received authorizations totaling $2.6 million dollars in grants and contributions.

Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions supports small and medium-sized businesses and Quebec’s regions in building a more innovative, stronger, cleaner, and more inclusive economy.
The funds received as grants and contributions under the Supplementary Estimates (C) are broken down as follows:
• Funds for community infrastructure projects: $2.1 million dollars;
• Transfer from the Department of National Defense to support scientific and technological research aimed at modernizing the Aerospace Defense Command: $0.4 million dollars.

Background:

• The Supplementary Estimates (C) provide information on expenditure requirements that were not sufficiently detailed at the time the Main Estimates were prepared or that were refined after their tabling to reflect changes in certain programs and services.
• The Supplementary Estimates (C) were tabled in the House of Commons on March 24, 2026, and received Royal Assent on March 26, 2026.
• A new initiative to fund community infrastructure and a transfer to support scientific and technological research to modernize the Aerospace Defense Command were approved.
• The budget for Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions in grants and contributions for 2025–2026 increases from $366.5 million to $369.1 million, for a total budget of $425.8 million including the operating budget. The request represents 0.7 percent of the initial budget for grants and contributions.

Additional Information:

The Canada Economic Development Agency for Quebec Regions (CED) has received $2.6 million to fund community infrastructure and scientific and technological research.
