Question Period Note: T1 TAX RETURNS

How many T1 tax returns are processed during the year?

• Over the last year, the CRA has processed almost 30.5 million T1 tax returns.
• This figure includes T1 individual income tax and benefit returns filed electronically or by paper for all tax years that were assessed between
February 2021 and November 15, 2021.

The Minister’s Office requested the most recent figures relating to the number of T1 tax returns the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has processed.
The CRA processed a total of approximately 30.5 million returns for this period as follows:
• EFILE – over 17.7 million returns
• NETFILE – almost 10 million returns
• Paper – over 2.7 million returns

The number provided in the response represents all the T1 income tax and benefit returns filed with the CRA and processed during the 2021 tax-filing season to date (February 2021 to November 15, 2021) as sourced from the T1 Assessing databases.
