Humanitarian crisis in the Nagorno‑Karabakh enclave following the launch of Azerbaijan's operation on September 19. The operation has reportedly left many people dead or wounded.

• Canada is following closely with concerns the developments in the Nagorno Karabakh region. Canada has recently joined the international community in calling for cessation of hostilities in Nagorno Karabakh.
• The humanitarian needs in Nagorno Karabakh are immense. We call upon the parties to abide by their obligations under international humanitarian law, including allowing and facilitating the rapid and unimpeded passage of humanitarian relief for civilians in need.
• We continue to closely monitor developments, engaging with our embassies accredited to Azerbaijan and Armenia. It is critical that any activity that undermines confidence in the peace process cease in order to allow Armenia and Azerbaijan to continue working toward a resolution.
